Vaccinating the Workers of a Shoe Sole Factory

placeholder

The outbreak of Covid affected the life of almost every human being. People were scared of even stepping out of their houses. Many people lost their lives and many lost their livelihoods due to Covid. Introduction of Covid vaccine brought a ray of hope for protection against the pandemic. VaccineOnWheels aims to provide vaccination to people in their locality itself so that they don’t have to spend the whole day to go the nearby vaccination centres by leaving their work. Our main target groups are old aged people, disabled, labours and other underprivileged people of the society.

One of our unit operating in Tirupattur district of Tamil Nadu organized a Covid vaccination camp at Sara shoe sole factory in Zameen. Our team first counselled the people working in the factory. They were told about the importance of getting vaccinated. Our teams also made sure to know each and everyone’s medical history before vaccination. After recording the vitals like temperature, blood pressure and pulse of every beneficiary, they were allowed to get vaccinated. After vaccination each beneficiary was kept under observation for half an hour. 200 beneficiaries of the Sara shoe sole factory were vaccinated by our team on that day. On the same day DPH of Tamil Nadu Dr. Selvavinayakam visited the vaccination camp and appreciated the effort of our team.

Vaccinating people at their worksites not only saves their time, but also prevents them from taking leave from work, which in turn helps them to save their wages. The labourers also save the money that they would have spent on travelling till the Covid vaccination centres. We are very grateful to our partners who are supporting us to reach out to such people and make Covid vaccine accessible to them at their worksites.
